Give Your Backyard a Tropical Makeover

Everyone needs to get away from work and stress once in a while, and what better way to do it than to take a nice tropical vacation. With the right tropical décor, anyone can transform a typical backyard into a calm and relaxing tropical haven. Giving your backyard a new tropical makeover will give it new life, and your guests will be eager to come back for your next outdoor barbeque or party. Here a few decorating ideas that can help you get started.

1. Bamboo

Bamboo is one of the most durable materials for building both fences and furniture, not to mention the fact that it is both stylish and environmentally friendly. Replacing your old fence with a new bamboo fence is the first step in your backyard's tropical makeover. Use rolled bamboo fencing or bamboo tiki poles.

2. Tiki accents

Tiki torches, statues and other kinds of tiki accent furniture are a perfect way to tie the tropical theme of your backyard together. Remember that tropical décor, as with any other kind of décor, relies on the decorator's eye for detail. A tiki bar is also a must have, and always keep it well stocked for guests.

3. Lounge seats

Replace your old conventional backyard lounge chairs and find a set of wicker or bamboo chairs that fit your backyard. Add light-colored cushions to them, and remember to include tables for drinks and snacks. Tropical lounge furniture goes great poolside.

4. Palm trees

Palm trees and other tropical plant life is essential if you are going to go for tropical island theme. Palm trees look great and can provide ample shade to sit under during those hot summer months.

5. The Hammock

The basic underlying purpose of tropical décor is to foster an air of comfort and ease. Nothing says relaxation quite like sturdy hammock. If you can, install one in between two palm trees to add a nice finishing touch.

6. A Sand Pit

If your backyard has enough space, don't hesitate to build a sand pit. Sand pits contribute to the backyard's overall tropical theme and are great place for volleyball games or can serve as a simple sandbox for the kids.
